What is this whole thing? A cassette? A freehub? I tried watching the turorial videos on removal but the thing in the red circle is still in there and doesn't seem to be on any tutorial videos I watched. How do I remove the thing in the red circle?

For many of the videos, specialized tools are identified and used which have many variations, such as freewheel tools and bottom bracket related tools. Like the freewheel remover tool has different variations based on the pattern that it must fit in the freewheel. That there isn’t a single tool that you can buy called a freewheel remover that works in all cases, like there is with a 10mm wrench (it works on all 10mm nuts/bolts, and everyone can agree what one looks like, function, and so forth). Any help to offer about determining which one is needed (especially for first time bike repairs) would be greatly appreciated!
