It would be great of you could make a video on adjusting disk brake pads so they do not rub on the rotor like mine do. Thanks!

  2. Benjamin on October 6th, 2009 5:18 pm

I’d like to know more about how to care for disc brakes. Hope you can help.

  4. Ken on October 6th, 2009 5:18 pm

I was wondering if you have ever thought of doing some disk brake videos (general set up). I just have cable brakes on my bike.

Any plans to cover disc brake adjustment and pad replacement? I have a cable disc brake, specifically, the BB5 from Avid.

I have disc brakes on the front. When I loosen the quick release lever the wheel spins freely when i tighten it then the wheel does not spin well. What can i do?

I would love to see some hints for some “so difficult” tasks like fixing a disc brake so it does not touch anymore the brake pads…

Have you considered a tutorial on mechanical disc brake adjustment and replacement?

  10. Chris on October 6th, 2009 5:20 pm

We have a couple of the disk brake style bikes in our unit and I hope you’ll be able to get a hold of one soon so you can make an adjustment video.

I have a Moutain Bike with Tektro Lo disc brakes. I have watched your tutorials on other kind of brakes, also checked the manual that comes with the brakes, but still have rubbing on the rear brake. I have a gap on hub side of rotor, but rubbing on other side. Have tweaked “stationary caliper adjusting bolt” and also tweaked “cable adjuster bolt” on the caliper. Ye despite much playing around i still have a gap on hub side of rotor and rubbing on the opposite side of the rotor. If you can do a tutorial on this would be appreciated.

A video on adjusting and cleaning disc brakes would be very helpful when you get the chance.

My bike has disk brakes, do you have any information on these? I have cable disk brakes on both front and back tires.

    Basic cable disc brake maintenance.

  16. Arvinder on October 7th, 2009 3:05 am

Do you intend to put a video up that details how to maintain/tweak disc brakes?

    I have cable brakes.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KW7UdDa4GP8 (but this one wasn’t too bad)

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Dkp2WFjuqYg (quite detailed but the poor sound/steadiness lets this video down)

Many producers produce mechanical disc brakes so that they DO RUB on the rotor.

The rubbing will not be enough to slow you down but just enough to produce a rubbing sound. This is not a problem. The rubbing will subside as the pads wear out and come into form. It will take about a month. Also refer to -
