Request: How to adjust Flight Deck brake/shift levers.

Specifically, I want to know two things:
1. How to loosen the levers so that I can move them along the handlebars to find the best position for me.
2. My left lever itself rattles when I cross over railroad tracks, but my right one doesn’t. Is there an adjustment I can make in the lever, or is any type of spring action strictly coming from the brake assembly?
I could *really* use a tutorial about how to loosen my road bike’s FlightDeck brake/shift levers and slide them up the drops just a bit. I got this bike as a gift and I’m new to FlightDeck. (My previous bike was a 1989 Specialized Sirrus). I found an exploded diagram of the flightdeck after searching Google, but I couldn’t work out how to loosen/tighten the levers to the bars.
To loosen the brake levers so they can slid up or down, you first need to loosen the clamp that allows them to move, to do this:
1) Look to the outer section of the hoods, (the hoods are the black rubber coverings that cover the entire lower section of the brake/shifter handles).
2) Look in the middle of the hood, you’ll see a slight cut out on the middle of the shifter/brake housing.
3) Peel back the hood that covers your upper section of the shifter/brake.
4) Slide either a 2 or 5 mm hex key into the slot on the outer section of the housing, while looking into the section you pulled back make sure the hex key is aligned with the screw that holds the caliper in place.
5) After you have inserted the hex key into the bolt, rotate it counter clockwise to loosen the bolt, this will allow the brake shifters/brake levers to slide up or down.
6) Slide the handle were you want it and tighten the hex bolt again, clockwise,
7) Ensure the brake lever is were you want it before sliding the hood back over the shifter and removing the hex key.
Once you have the right placement, remove the hex tool and replace the hood back over the shifter
9) Enjoy
